A human-centered approach was central to the development of Hexagon's new machine control interface. The development process for the NJB controller began with the user. Initial observations and interviews with CMM operators revealed that the existing solution was perceived as cumbersome and outdated, affecting the overall brand experience. By integrating user research, iterative prototyping, and knowledge of manufacturing and components, we transformed the user experience, dramatically enhancing the reliability, accuracy, and performance of the jogbox and operator. The result is now a best selling product for HMI worldwide. As of 2020 we have shipped over 45,000 units with Design ROI of 2,300%.
